Lahore High Court To Hear Imran Khan’s Bail Plea On Tuesday
Imran Khan, Pakistan's former prime minister, appeared before the Lahore High Court on Monday, which set his bail hearing for Tuesday in the terrorist cases filed against him following his detention in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case, which provoked violent rallies by those who supported him.
Khan was joined by his wife, Bushra Bibi, who was granted pre-arrest release in the Al-Qadir Trust case by the high court until May 23.
“The LHC granted pre-arrest bail to Bushra Bibi till May 23 in the Al-Qadir Trust case. The court, however, fixed Khan’s bail plea for Tuesday in the terrorism cases registered against him after May 9 violence. The LHC Registrar’s Office has raised an objection for not attaching the arrested copies of Supreme Court and Islamabad High Court orders,” a court official told PTI.
Adani-Hindenburg Row: Supreme Court To Hear SEBI’s Plea On Extension Of Probe Time On May 16
The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on the Securities and Exchange Board of India's (SEBI) petition for a six-month extension to conclude an investigation into claims of stock price manipulation by the Adani group until Tuesday.
Due to a lack of time and a scheduled hearing before a special bench at 3 p.m., the hearing on the market regulator's appeal and PILs could not take place on Monday.
On May 12, a bench comprised of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and justices P S Narasimha and J B Pardiwala stated that it would consider extending SEBI three additional months to complete its investigation into charges of stock price manipulation and deficiencies in regulatory disclosure.
Meanwhile, SEBI submitted a response document outlining additional reasons for requesting more time to investigate the matter.
