Breaking News LIVE — 6-Year-Old Girl Raped In UP Village, Case Filed. Probe On

A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two boys in a village here under the Dubahar Police Station area of the district, police on Sunday said, as reported by PTI.


Additional Superintendent of Police Durga Prasad Tiwari said, "The incident according to family members occurred on March 7. An FIR regarding the incident has been lodged on the complaint given by the father of the girl. Both the accused in the case are minors," as quoted by news agency PTI.


On Saturday, police booked both boys under IPC section 376 D (gang rape) and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

2 Killed, 1 Injured During Transfer Of Explosives In Pak: Official

At least two persons were killed and one injured in a blast while they were transferring explosives on a motorbike in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday, said officials, as reported by news agency PTI. Delhi: Man, Not Child, Trapped In 40-Foot Borewell, Atishi Says 'Strict Action Will Be Taken' After Probe

Rescue efforts are underway after a man fell down a 40-foot-deep borewell at a Delhi Jal Board treatment plant in the Keshopur Mandi region late last night. Four Delhi Fire Services engines are on the scene, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) leading the rescue operation. Authorities were first informed that a child had fallen into the borewell in Keshopur, but it was subsequently discovered that it was a man stuck within. His identity is still to be determined.


Delhi Water Minister Atishi, who arrived at the treatment facility in the morning, said the borewell was in a sealed chamber and stressed that it was not a child, but an adult who was trapped within. READ MORE

13 Wounded As Wave Topples Floating Bridge At Kerala's Varkala beach

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 9 (PTI) Thirteen people, including two children, were injured in an accident at Varkala beach on Saturday after a huge wave toppled the floating bridge they were standing on, police said.


A Varkala police station officer said 13 people were injured in the accident. A handrail of the bridge also broke under the impact of the wave.


The injured are being treated at the Mission Hospital and the Government Medical College, the officer said.


None of the injured are in critical condition. A 14-year-old girl, however, is under observation, he added.

The BJP government in Chhattisgarh will launch its flagship ‘Mahatari Vandan Yojana’, under which a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 will be provided to married women, an official said.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the programme virtually and interact with the beneficiaries on the occasion, he said. About Rs 700 crore will be released as the first instalment under the scheme, which will benefit nearly 70 lakh women in the state, the official said. He said each registered woman will get Rs 12,000 a year, or Rs 1,000 a month.

Breaking News Live: At Least 10 Militants Killed By Security Forces In Separate Operations In Pakistan

Pakistani security forces killed ten terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations in the country's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said on Saturday.


The operations were conducted in the North Waziristan district bordering Afghanistan, said the Inter-Services Public Relations, the military's media wing.


At least four terrorists were killed during an operation on Friday, and during a follow-up sanitisation operation on Saturday, four more terrorists were shot dead by the security forces.


In a separate operation in the district, two terrorists trying to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border were killed and three others were injured. (PTI Input)

TMC To Launch Its Lok Sabha Campaign With Mega Rally In Kolkata On Sunday


The Trinamool Congress is all set to launch its Lok Sabha poll campaign with a grand rally on Sunday at Kolkata's famed Brigade Parade Grounds, where party supremo Mamata Banerjee is set to galvanise supporters and set the tone for the upcoming elections.


Christened 'Jana Garjan Sabha', the mega event will feature three platforms, including a cross ramp, with Mamata Banerjee and TMC's national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee taking centre-stage as the main speakers.


The rally's overarching theme revolves around the alleged withholding of the state's financial dues by the central government, a contentious issue that has dominated state politics for the past two years.

As part of another scheme, which will be launched on March 12, paddy farmers will be given financial assistance, he said.


Under the scheme, ‘Krishak Unnati Yojana’, those farmers whose paddy has been procured at the minimum support price (MSP), fixed by the Centre, will get some additional amounts. Union Ministers Arjun Munda and Giriraj Singh will be present during the launch of this programme, he said.


The Vishnu Deo Sai government has decided to purchase paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal from farmers in Chhattisgarh. This year, the state has made a record purchase of 1.47 lakh metric tonnes of paddy for which farmers have already been paid the MSP at Rs 2,183 per quintal, the official said.
