IND vs AUS: Australia defeated India by 6 wickets in the India vs Australia 5th Test at Sydney to clinch the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 series by 3-1. On Day 3 of the last BGT 2024-25 Test, India posted the target of 162 runs for Australia in the third innings after being bundled out for 157 runs on a Sydney pitch that had loads of assistance for the seamers. However, what could have been a riveting contest was reduced to a rather one-sided affair due to the absence of India's go-to man in the series, Jasprit Bumrah, who sat out the fourth innings after injury concerns on Day 2.
Australia also ended their 10-year wait to get their hands on the iconic Border-Gavaskar Trophy as they hadn't won after the 2014-15 IND vs AUS series.

Australia Too Good For The Bumrah-Less India
On Day 4 of the IND vs AUS 5th Test, India resumed at 141/6, with Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar at the crease. Australian captain Pat Cummins made an early impact, dismissing Jadeja and quickly following up by removing Washington. Scott Boland maintained his excellent form, claiming the remaining wickets as Australia bowled out India for 157 runs.
Needing 162 runs to win, Australia made a strong start with Sam Konstas playing a fiery innings, but he was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna while attempting an aggressive shot. Krishna continued hitting good lines and lengths and also eked out the wickets of Marnush Labuschagne and Steve Smith. While it looked like the match was in the balance after the three wickets, Travis Head and Usman Khawaja steered the momentum back towards the hosts. However, Mohammed Siraj broke the partnership as he got rid of Khawaja against the run of play to inject hopes in the Indian camp once again. However Beau Webster and Head partnered up and ensured no more wickets fell as they took the Aussies over the line. While the Indian bowlers did perform goon in parts at Sydney, the absence of Bumrah was felt deeply by the visitors.
