Lt Gen BS Raju To Take Over As Vice Chief Of Indian Army Staff From May 1

The Indian Army's Director General of Military Operations, Lt General B.S. Raju will take over as Vice Chief of the Army Staff on May 1.

On December 15, 1984, he was commissioned in the Jat Regiment as an alumnus of Sainik School Bijapur and the National Defence Academy.

During Operation Parakram in the Western Theatre and in Jammu and Kashmir, he led a battalion. He also commands the Uri brigade along the Line of Control, as well as a Counter-Insurgency Force and the Chinar Corps in the Kashmir Valley. He was also the Commandant of the Indian Military Training Team in Bhutan.

According to the Defence Ministry, the general officer is a qualified helicopter pilot having carried out operational flying in Somalia, as part of UNOSOM II (UN peacekeeping and humanitarian missions II). He has attended all-important career courses in India and has had the privilege of doing his NDC at the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom.

For his illustrious contribution to the service, he has been awarded Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Yudh Seva Medal.

Oil Marketing Companies To Organise 5,000 LPG Panchayats On May 1

On May 1, oil marketing corporations such as Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation are planning to organise over 5,000 LPG panchayats around the nation to commemorate Ujjwala Diwas.

Apart from exchanging expertise aimed at safe and long-term Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) consumption, oil marketing businesses will also make efforts to increase client enrolment.

In addition to LPG panchayats, the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas said in a statement on Saturday that the distribution of new connections under Ujjwala 2.0; explaining the details of new Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) categories and collection of KYC forms for the ongoing Ujjwala 2.0 scheme, organising Free Hot Plate service camps, organisation of safety clinics, facilitation of Ujjwala beneficiaries, and other activities will be organised.

Thailand To Ease More COVID-19 Restrictions From May 1

Thailand has announced intentions to discontinue pre-arrival testing for arriving guests beginning next month. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, from May 1, travellers would not be required to be tested before or upon arrival, regardless of their vaccination status.

Though properly vaccinated travellers will be allowed to enter the country and roam freely, the regulations for unvaccinated visitors will be slightly different.
