Andhra Govt Taking Credit For Centre's Housing Schemes, Says BJP State Chief
The BJP leaders submitted a petition to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to take immediate action against the Andhra govt over negligence in the construction of houses under PMAY.
Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Somu Veerraju has alleged that the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government was taking credit for housing schemes being funded by the Centre. Veerraju raised the issue when he and party general secretary S Vishnuvardhan Reddy met Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on Sunday.
The BJP leaders submitted a petition to the Union Minister to take immediate action against the mistakes and negligence in the construction of houses in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
"About 2,00,000 houses were provided in Andhra Pradesh under the government housing scheme, regarding which the BJP Andhra Pradesh delegation met Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and discussed various issues. But the state government is taking the credit for the scheme itself and on the other side, construction of houses under the state government housing scheme is still pending" Somu Veerraju said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
Somu Veerraju said that the BJP delegation discussed with Puri the slow progress of the government housing scheme and the conspiracy being done by the state government.
He claimed that the Andhra Pradesh government was trying to take credit for the work being done by the Centre by painting green and blue colours on the walls of the houses. Reddy is promoting his party by using the distinctive green and blue signature theme.
The BJP leaders pointed out that 10 lakh houses were sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh during the TDP's tenure in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). However, the then government could complete only 30,000 houses despite the central government giving subsidies. On its part, the state government had sanctioned 20 lakh houses, but only six lahk were under construction.
Speaking on the ongoing language debate Somu Veerraju said "We support regional languages in the state, but our party supports Hindi, English, and regional languages. We do not deny any language whereas Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin and his party are anti-nationals because they are ignoring the Hindi language.
