2019 Audi A4 Facelift Revealed; Looks Sportier Than Before
Audi has given the A4 a comprehensive facelift with updated design elements and hybrid powertrains in global markets
After a nick and tuck last year, the Audi A4 has now received a more expansive update in global markets. However, there’s no official word on when it’ll be brought to India.
Design
The A4 facelift looks sportier and more aggressive than before. Its new headlights seem to borrow design cues from the A1 hatchback with LED units available from the base variant itself. The top-spec variant is equipped with Audi’s Matrix LED technology with automatic high beam. It also get a broader and flatter front grille for added sportiness.
Engine Options
Over in Europe, the A4 is available with a choice of six engines, three of which get mild-hybrid (12V) technology. Audi offers the A4 in India with just two engine options - a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit (150PS/250Nm) and a 2.0-litre diesel unit (190PS/400Nm). As electrified mild-hybrid vehicles are becoming more commonplace in India, Audi may decide to introduce the 2019 A4 with the hybrid system for these engines.
Infotainment System
Another big update on the Audi A4 facelift is the new central infotainment system. The 10.1-inch touchscreen display now features clean and minimalistic graphics while the user interface has been designed to mimic smartphones. The system’s voice control has been given an update too and can now recognise a growing number of phrases which are used on a daily basis.
The Euro-spec Audi A4 also gets the Connect and Connect Plus packages which include various smart features for optimised navigation and relaying useful information to the driver. This includes telling the driver when the next stop light on the selected route will turn green. While these services are offered in select European cities, we don’t expect it to be offered on the India-spec A4 sedan.
While Audi has not given any word on when it will come to India, we expect the facelifted sedan to arrive later this year. The facelift will help renew the sedan’s rivalry with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series and the Jaguar XE.
