New Delhi: The movie 'Operation Valentine' has hit theaters, presenting a narrative inspired by real incidents. The film attempts to depict the Indian Airstrike on Pakistan following the Pulwama attack that occurred on February 14, 2019, in Kashmir.
Plot
The story revolves around Wing Commander Arjun Dev, portrayed by Telugu star Varun Tej, who lost his friend Kabir during Project Vajra, leading to lingering trauma. As the owner of Apavi Margee, Arjun's daily life involves frequent arguments with his wife, Wing Commander Ahaana Gill, played by Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar. Amidst personal struggles, the plot unfolds against the backdrop of the 2019 Pulwama Attack and the subsequent Airstrike Operation on Pakistan, featuring substantial aerial action.
How is the film
The movie predominantly focuses on two aspects: the characters' personal lives and their past traumas. Approximately 70% of the time, Wing Commander Arjun is portrayed grappling with the memories of his lost friend Kabir. The film then shifts its focus to Arjun becoming part of the Airstrike Operation, 'Operation Valentine,' against Pakistan after an attack on the Indian Army. While the film touches on counterterrorism points, the storytelling and plot development appear weak, leaving viewers at times confused about the sequence of events.
Direction and VFX
When it comes to VFX and graphics, the film's quality may be comparable to some video games, falling short of satisfying expectations. Considering the film's budget was between Rs 40-50 Crore, the VFX quality is not entirely satisfying. However, the direction and cinematography are commendable, handled by Shakti Pratap Singh Hada.
Acting
Varun Tej and Manushi Chhillar deliver strong performances in their respective roles as Wing Commander Arjun Dev and Wing Commander Ahaana Gill. Manushi's Tollywood debut showcases her acting skills, although her portrayal may come across as slightly less robust for an Air Force Wing Commander. Varun Tej effectively portrays the emotional aspects of his character, serving as both a Wing Commander and a Test Pilot in the film.
Music
The background music in the film is passable, with two songs adding their charm to the narrative.
