New Delhi: Every year September 25 is observed as World Pharmacists Day to honour the services offered by pharmacists in the healthcare field. While physicians and other health workers are necessary for good medical treatment, pharmacists also play a vital role in the healthcare profession in giving suitable medicine to patients as well as supporting them with the required dose. When a drug is not accessible, they assist patients by proposing alternatives so that they do not suffer due to the unavailability of the drug.

World Pharmacists Day 2022: A brief history

World Pharmacists Day was founded in 2009 by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) at the World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Istanbul, Turkey. FIP was founded on September 25, 1912. As a result, September 25th was designated as World Pharmacists Day.

FIP is an international organisation that represents pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, and pharmaceutical education. It is a non-governmental organisation headquartered in the Netherlands. It is a global organisation that represents millions of pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, and pharmaceutical educators. It promotes pharmaceutical growth through its relationships and networks.

World Pharmacists Day 2022: Theme

This year's theme, according to the FIP, is "Pharmacy united in action for a better world."According to the association, the subject was selected to "showcase pharmacy's positive effect on health throughout the world and to further enhance professional unity," 

Every year, the FIP leads the World Pharmacists Day campaign, which gives a chance to promote pharmacy as a profession. The FIP has encouraged people from all areas of the pharmacy profession to participate in the campaign on its website. "Show the world how we are together for health, despite and in spite of war, various governments and cultures, and economic inequity," it read.
