Miss Universe 2023: Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios Wins The Crown; Watch Video

New Delhi: The winner of Miss Universe 2023 is Miss Nicaragua. Miss Nicaragua became the 72nd Miss Universe following a fierce competition amongst 90-nation contestants. Anntonia Porsild of Thailand was named the runner-up, followed by Moraya Wilson of Australia in third place. R'Bonney Gabriel of the USA, the winner of Miss Universe 2022, bestowed her crown live on stage to cheers from the audience.

The last question for the Miss Universe 2023 contest was “If you could live one year in another woman’s shoes who would you choose and why?”.

Miss Nicaragua was named Mary Wollstonecraft, the pioneer of feminism and a champion for women's rights.

Eighty-four women from all across the world walked the Miss Universe stage. Additionally, the theme of this year's pageant was growth and inclusivity. The first two women to compete were two married mothers from Colombia, Maria Camila Avella Montañez, and Michelle Cohn from Guatemala. Being the first plus-sized model to enter, Miss Nepal Jane Dipika Garett created history.

In the highly sought-after contest, Shweta Sharda, representing India, placed among the top 20. At the international competition, Erica Robin from Pakistan made her debut.

The José Adolfo Pineda Arena in El Salvador hosted the 72nd Miss Universe event.  John Legend, a 12-time Grammy winner, also performed for the audience and viewers worldwide. Along with Jeannie Mai and Olivia Culpo, the former Miss Universe, Maria Menounos presented the event.

The 2023 Miss Universe pageant was held on Saturday, November 18, at 6:30 AM Indian Standard Time and 8 PM Eastern Time/5 PM Pacific Time. Miss Universe's YouTube channel and its X account both aired live broadcasts of the event.
