New Delhi: Every year, the Ashtami of the Krishna Paksha of the Bhadra month is celebrated as Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. According to Hinduism, Lord Krishna was born on this day. This festival is very special for devotees of Lord Krishna. People observe fast on this day and worship at midnight after the birth of Shri Krishna.

Gujarati Mohanthal: Ingredients

  • Chickpea flour-2 cup
  • Milk-1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder-1/4 tsp
  • Sugar - 1/2 cups
  • Almond-chopped
  • Pistachio-chopped
  • Ghee-3/4 cup

Gujarati Mohanthal: Method

  • First strain the chickpea flour.
  • Now add ghee to a pan, heat it lightly and add milk to it.
  • Now add chickpea flour and cardamom to it and fry on a low flame till it turns brown.
  • Now prepare 2 string sugar syrups in another pot.
  • When the roasted chickpea flour cools down a bit, put it in the syrup.
  • Now add milk to it as needed and let it become a little soft.
  • Now spread this mixture in a plate and add almonds and pistachios on top.
  • Let it cool down and then cut it into square shape.
  • Your Mohanthal is ready.
