Hariyali Teej is a daylong fast observed by married women, who also worship Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. Suhagans pray to the gods for their husband's happiness and a long and happy marriage.

Hariyali Teej is an extremely challenging fast since women sacrifice food and water on this day to ensure their husbands live long lives. Married women place a lot of importance on this day. Married ladies pray for happiness as well as domestic tranquillity on this day and for their husbands' long lives.

When Is Haryali Teej 2022?

This year, the date of Hariyali Teej is July 31. Hariyali Teej is observed on the third day of Shukla Paksha of the Sawan month, according to the Hindu calendar.

What Is The Significance Of Haryali Teej?

Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are honoured in this festival. Hariyali Teej occurs during the monsoon or rainy season (Sawan/Shravan). Parents of married women send Sindhara (a bucket of presents) to their daughters and in-laws on this day. It includes homemade candy, Heena, Ghewar, bangles, etc.

Hariyali Teej is sometimes referred to as Sindhara Teej because it is customary for parents to send Sindhara to their daughter and her spouse. Chhoti Teej and Shravana Teej are other names for Hariyali Teej. In contrast, Kajari Teej, also known as Badi Teej, occurs fifteen days following Hariyali Teej.

As per Hindu mythology, it is believed that,  for several years, Goddess Parvati fasted and practised austerity. On this tithi (day) in her 108th birth, Lord Shiva accepted her as his wife.

What Should Be In The Haryali Teej Pujan Samagri List?

The list starts with the idols of Maa Parvati and Shiva. Along with this, yellow clothes, raw cotton, new clothes, banana leaves, belpatra, hemp, datura, Shami leaves, janeu, jaggery, coconut, betel nut, urn, akshat or rice, durva grass, ghee, camphor, Abir-gulal, quince, sandalwood, cow's milk, Gangajal, panchamrit curd, sugar candy, honey, etc. are included.
