Background

Chaitra Navratri 2023 LIVE: Hindus commemorate Navratri, an important festival, in a lavish manner. The Hindu calendar has four Navratris. In addition to Chaitra and Sharadiya Navratri, there are two Gupta Navratris. While Shardiya Navratri is observed in September or October, Chaitra Navratri is observed in March or April.

Beginning on March 22, 2023, on a Wednesday, the Chaitra Navratri 2023 will last for nine days, ending on March 31, 2023, and is of great religious importance in Hinduism. According to the Hindu calendar, this occurs in the month of Chaitra, which correlates to March–April on the Gregorian calendar.

The word Navaratri means "nine nights," with nava standing for "nine" and ratri for "nights." On this occasion, nine goddesses are worshipped over the course of nine days. Devotees all over India are gearing up to celebrate Chaitra Navratri, the nine-day festival, with great enthusiasm. The festival is important because it heralds the arrival of spring and the triumph of virtue over evil in the Hindu calendar.

During this festival, people fast and worship the nine forms of Goddess Durga. They are Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skanda Mata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. Each of the nine days of Navratri is devoted to a distinct aspect of the Goddess Shakti. Chaitra Navratri mirrors the majority of Shardiya Navratri's traditions and rituals, which take place in September or October. For both Shardiya and Chaitra Navratri, the Ghatasthapana Puja Vidhi is the same.

Hindus celebrate Ram Navami on the last day of Chaitra Navratri to commemorate Lord Rama's birth. The celebrations start on the first day of the Hindu Lunar-Solar calendar. Also, most rituals performed at Shardiya Navratri, which takes place in September or October, are also performed during Chaitra Navratri.

Northern India celebrates Chaitra Navratri with grandeur. This begins with Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra and Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh.

Puja Vidhi For Worship Of Maa Shailputri:

The festival begins with the worship of Maa Shailputri and it contributes to the betterment of one's wealth, possessions etc. It also aids in improved decision-making and gives relief from diseases related to the eyes, blood, stomach, phlegm, alimentary canal, and epilepsy.

After setting the Kalash, invoke Maa Shailputri. Worship the Goddess by offering her sindoor, flowers, incense, akshat (rice), frankincense, and other things. After that, you can recite the Durga Chalisa. It is said that Mata Shailputri should only be worshipped by igniting a lamp filled with cow's ghee or camphor.
