Kerala Police Use Water Cannons On ABVP Workers Marching To VPS Hospital Over Alleged Organ Trade
Earlier, a Judicial First Class Magistrate Court recently directed officials to issue summons against eight doctors and VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi concerning the organ donation of a youth.
The Kerala police took to water cannons and lathi-charge to disperse Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) workers who were staging a protest march to VPS Hospital on Saturday. The ABVP held a march demanding a probe into the alleged organ trade being done at the hospital.
According to ANI, “Kerala police use water cannons and lathi-charge ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) workers who were holding a protest march to VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi demanding a probe into allegations of organ trade being done at the hospital. The workers were later detained by police.”
“A Judicial First Class Magistrate Court recently directed officials to issue summons against eight doctors and VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi concerning the organ donation of a youth who was declared brain dead following an accident in 2009,” it said.
