NIA Seeks Details After Fire Incident In Same Train That Involved Kerala Arson

The police have also retrieved CCTV footage and have found the movement of a person in the visual.

The National Investigation Agency reportedly requested to provide details regarding the train fire that took place in Kannur on Thursday. The train which involved the Thursday mishap was allegedly the same train in which Kerala arson took place in April. The NIA is already investigating Kerala train arson case which led to the death of 3 persons including a child.

According to Mathrubhumi, NIA is investigating whether both incidents are linked to each other. The police suspect a miscreant activity as the cause of the fire. The forensic team is already in place to collect the clues.

The police have also retrieved CCTV footage and have found the movement of a person in the visual.

In the CCTV footage of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, the police have traced an unidentified person entering the train, said a report on India Today.

Meanwhile, Kerala BJP president Surendran said, “What happened in Kannur yesterday night is another act of terrorism. The same train was attacked 3 months ago. Kerala is becoming a hub of terror activities and the state government is always supporting the fundamentalist groups. This incident proves that terror sleeper cells are active in Kerala.”

On Thursday, a stationary train Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express caught fire in the wee hours. Based on the information, the fire tenders were immediately rushed to service. No casualties were reported but a coach was completely gutted in the fire. It was the second fire accident on the same train.

On April 2 night, three people, including a baby, died in a train arson incident in which a passenger set his co-passengers on fire in Kozhikode district.

Nine people had suffered burn injuries in the incident while three, including the toddler, were found dead on the tracks. Police suspect that they fell while trying to escape from the fire.
