'Left Parties Won't Allow RSS To Implement Manusmriti Based Constitution': CPM Leader MV Govindan

Kerala society should be modernised using science and technology, he said.

Kozhikode: CPI(M) Kerala state secretary M V Govindan on Friday attacked the RSS alleging it wants to impose a Manusmriti-based constitution in the country and the Left party will not allow it.

Addressing a large crowd at Perambra in the district, as part of the state-wide month-long People's Defence Rally organised by the ruling CPI(M), Govindan alleged that the RSS wants to destroy democracy, secularism and the unity in diversity of the country.

He said the rally aims to apprise people about the BJP-led NDA government's policies affecting the federal system in the country.

"The RSS has the agenda of making a Constitution based on Manusmriti. They care least about today's democracy, secularism, the diversity in culture, language, religion or caste in our country. Their agenda is to implement such a constitution by their 100th anniversary," Govindan alleged, adding that the Left parties in the country, especially in Kerala will not allow it to happen.

Batting for the ambitious K-Rail project of the Left government to connect the north and south ends of the state through semi-high speed railway lines, Govindan said it would improve the lives of people from different walks of life.

"Kerala society should be modernised using science and technology. As the world moves forward with technology, we cannot afford to stay behind. This whole world is changing. And nature too. Change is the only constant," Govindan said.

He said K-Rail would reduce the carbon emissions in the state and can improve the lives of people at all levels.

Govindan said the Congress, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and the BJP are completely against this project.

He said the Left front's policies are framed in way to make the state at par with the developed nations in the world.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had on February 20 inaugurated the CPI(M)'s state-wide month-long Rally at Kasaragod.
