Kerala Is Breeding Ground Of Secularism: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Pinarayi Vijayan said that Kerala is a peaceful place compared to other states in our country.

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that a peaceful atmosphere prevails in the state and it is a breeding ground for secularism.

On Saturday, Pinarayi Vijayan said, “Kerala is a peaceful place compared to other states in our country. A peaceful atmosphere prevails here. Communal disturbances and loss of life are happening in many places. Nothing like that happens in Kerala. Our country is a breeding ground of secularism.”

Last month, Pinarayi Vijayan also stressed on protecting the pluralism of the country. He said, "India is known for its pluralism and we need to protect it. However, imposing a language or a religion is against pluralism. If only one language is promoted then how can our Malayalam language stay alive? If Malayalam is not there then the Malayalam media will not have any relevance. Hence, the media should protect pluralism for their own survivability."

Earlier, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said that secularism has always been a part of the Indian way of life. Arif Khan said that the concept of secularism was widely accepted as it was in consonance with the ancient way of life in India. He said, the concept of democracy became popular outside western hemisphere since we had a concept of spiritual democracy.

The Governor made the comment during a lecture on 'Life and legacy of Jawaharlal Nehru' in April. Arif Khan said, Nehru took pride in ancient heritage of India and he considered Vedas and Upanishads as storehouses of wisdom.
