Kerala Fire: Congress, BJP Blames Pinarayi Vijayan Govt For 'Arson' On Train

The fire accident took place on the same train in which Kerala arson was reported in April.

The Opposition parties have started slamming the ruling Left government in Kerala in connection with the train fire in the wee hours of Thursday. A coach of an express train which was halted at Kannur railway station in Kerala caught fire on Thursday. No casualties have been reported but a coach of the train was gutted in the blaze.

The fire mishap led to speculations and political debates in the state. Kerala BJP president K Surendran said, “What happened in Kannur yesterday night is another act of terrorism. The same train was attacked 3 months ago. Kerala is becoming a hub of terror activities and the state government is always supporting the fundamentalist groups. This incident proves that terror sleeper cells are active in Kerala.”

The fire accident took place on the same train in which Kerala arson was reported in April. Another BJP member also flagged an alleged conspiracy behind the fire.

P K Krishnadas, Chairman of Indian Railways' Passenger Amenities Committee (PAC) and National Executive Member of the BJP, as per PTI said, "Such incidents have created fear and anxiety in the general public, especially those travelling by train, and questioned why it was happening "again and again" in Kerala.”

“Investigative agencies suspect involvement of several persons behind the latest incident. Therefore, people need to understand that it was not a coincidence but a planned conspiracy which all points to a coup," he said.

Meanwhile, the Congress blamed the police and demanded the state government to strengthen the safety and security measures. Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly V D Satheesan, as per the report said, “Such incidents have created "insecurity" in the minds of the people, and that the state government needs to intervene and take steps to strengthen the safety and security measures.”

He blamed the police for alleged lack of seriousness in dealing with such cases. He said that it was apparent from how the Elathur train arson incident of April 2 was handled by the Kerala Police.
