Kerala: CPI Leader And Former MLA R Ramachandran Passes Away
Ramachandran served as an MLA from Karunagapally between 2016-2021.
Former Karunagapally MLA and CPI state council member Ramachandran died due to a liver-related ailment at a private hospital in Kochi on Tuesday. The kin of the senior leader has decided to hold the cremation at his Karunagapally residence at 10 AM on Wednesday. Ramachandran served as an MLA from Karunagapally between 2016-2021.
According to ANI, R Ramachandran, former Karunagappalli MLA and ex-District Secretary of CPI, passed away around 3.50 am today (Tuesday) at a private hospital in Kochi.

He was 75 and his condition worsened on Monday. Party sources told PTI, "Having suffered from liver-related ailments for some time, his condition worsened on Monday, leading to his demise."
He is survived by his wife and daughter.
The public has been permitted to pay their respects to the leader at the CPI Kollam district committee office, as well as the Chavara and Karunagapally mandalam committee offices, according to a report on Manorama.
Ramachandran started his political journey from the CPI student wing. Later, he worked as CPI Karunagapally Taluk Committee Secretary and Chavara Mandalam Secretary.
Between 2006 and 11, he was the chairman of Kerala Small Industries Development Corporation Limited.
In 2012, he was made CPI district secretary in Kollam, a role which he served for many years. Later, he also became a member of CPI state executive committee.
Ramachandran contested for the CPI in the Karunagappally constituency in the last assembly elections. He was also the LDF convenor.
Senior CPI(M) leader and state Finance Minister K N Balagopal condoled Ramachandran's demise.
Remembering the deceased leader, KN Balagopal said, "Ramachandran was a great organizer and a communist and did his best work as an MLA. His contributions to the development sector of Karunagappally will be remembered forever. He was active in public service even when he was sick."
