Sitaram Yechury Warns Against BJP Gains in Bengal, Criticises Cong For Anti-Democratic Approach In Kerala

Sitaram Yechury said Congress keeps silent on the Centre's assault on the rights of Kerala which helps the BJP in its maneuvers against the state government.

The CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury disclosed that final discussions on selecting common candidates within the I.N.D.I.A bloc is underway across various states. Nevertheless, Yechury expressed concern, stating that a unified I.N.D.I.A bloc might benefit the BJP in Bengal, given the prevailing anti-incumbency. Furthermore, he criticized the Congress in Kerala for adopting a negative and anti-democratic stance towards the LDF government.

According to ANI, CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury said, "In most of the states, we will be able to make common candidates and the discussions are in the final stages. Assessment is happening between the parties."

"In Bengal, if I.N.D.I.A allies get together it will be beneficial for the BJP because there is huge anti-incumbency...In Kerala, the Congress party is adopting a negative and anti-democratic approach to the LDF government and making baseless allegations against the Chief Minister. It keeps silent on the Centre's assault on the rights of Kerala which helps the BJP in its maneuvers against the state government. The people of Kerala will reject this disruptive approach to the Congress party," he said.

He emphasized the need to strengthen the opposition coalition, I.N.D.I.A bloc, especially with Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar breaking ties to realign with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in Bihar.

The Trinamool Congress' choice to contest the Lok Sabha elections independently in West Bengal, rather than aligning with the I.N.D.I.A bloc, sets the stage for a three-way electoral battle. Both the TMC and the BJP are now positioned to vie for consolidated voter support.
