The South Western Railway is executing a trial run of the Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Dharwad on Monday. The semi-fast luxury train will leave Dharwad at 1.15 p.m. and arrive in Bengaluru at 8.10 p.m.
The train will make three brief stops during the trial run at Yashwantpur, Davangere, and Hubballi.
According to SWR sources, 90% of the track has been upgraded to allow the train to go at 110 km/h.
"Out of 489 km track, 386 km are fit for 110 kmph speed. The rest will be upgraded by July this year," a senior Railway official told PTI.
This will be Karnataka's second Vande Bharat Express, following the Mysuru-Chennai route. It would operate between Bengaluru and Dharwad.
