'No Copy Of Order Received', Tweets Congress After K'taka Court Directs Twitter To Block Party Handles

Complaint was registered at Yashwanthpur police station on Friday by MRT music and an FIR was filed against party leaders Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and Supriya Shrinate

A Karnataka court Monday directed Twitter to temporarily block Congress and Bharat Jodo Yatra handles for allegedly infringing the statutory copyright owned by MRT Music by illegally using sound recordings of the KGF chapter-2 film. Responding to the court order, Congress in its tweet stated that no court order was received and they had read it on social media.

"We have read on social media about an adverse order from a Bengaluru court against INC & BJY SM handles. We were neither made aware of nor present at court proceedings. No copy of the order has been received," Congress tweeted, while adding, "We are pursuing all the legal remedies at our disposal."

Complaint was registered at Yashwanthpur police station on Friday by MRT music and an FIR was filed against party leaders Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and Supriya Shrinate under the provisions of sections 403 (dishonest misappropriation of property), 465 (punishment for forgery), 120 sections 403, 465 and 120B r/w section 34 and section 66 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and an FIR has been registered under Section 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957.

M Naveen Kumar, the MRT music manager, has lodged the complaint alleging that Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had posted two videos of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, in which songs from KGF chapter-2 were used without permission.

"The said videos were made using the popular sound recordings owned and held by the complainant. The said sound recordings are that of the cinematographic film 'KGF Chapter-2' (Hindi version) which is popular globally," Naveen said, as quoted in a PTI report.

Rahul Gandhi, meanwhile, continued his rally. He along with other party leaders entered Maharashtra Monday evening after a 15-day walkathon in Telangana. The Yatra was started on September 7 from Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari.
