Karnataka: Section 144 Imposed In Mangaluru Till December 27 After Man Stabbed To Death

A day after a 45-year-old man from Surathkal was allegedly stabbed to death, Mangaluru police imposed Section 144 in Surathkal, Bajpe, Kavoor and Panambur police limits in Mangaluru till December 27 in order to prevent any untoward incidents in wake of a murder incident, said Mangaluru police. Also, the police said that ban on liquor sale is imposed till December 27, 10 AM. The deceased has been identified as Jaleel, 45, owner of a fancy shop has been attacked by assailants on Saturday night, said police.
"Section 144 of CrPC in Surathkal, Bajpe, Kavoor & Panambur PS limit in Mangaluru from 6 AM on Dec 25 to 6 AM on Dec 27 in order to prevent any untoward incidents in wake of a murder incident. Sale of liquor was also banned till 10 AM on Dec 27," Mangaluru Commissioner of PN Shashi Kumar said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Jaleel was at his shop, when two persons allegedly attacked him. He was immediately rushed to a hospital nearby, where he succumbed to injuries. Police said further investigation is in progress to find the motive behind the killing and those behind it. Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar on Sunday clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in Surathkal and adjoining areas.
However, this will not apply to Christmas celebrations, religious programmes and emergency services, the police said.
