Bengaluru: At Least 5 Wounded In Suspected Gas Cylinder Blast At Rameshwaram Cafe

The explosion took place at the cafe's Whitefield location.

A suspected LPG cylinder blast at the popular city eatery, Rameshwaram Cafe, resulted in at least five individuals sustaining injuries on Friday, according to police. Although the precise number of injured persons is yet to be confirmed, authorities have confirmed that at least five people have been transported to the hospital for treatment, news agency PTI reported. The blast, which occurred at Rameshwaram Cafe in Kundanahalli, triggered a fire, prompting a swift response from police and fire personnel who rushed to the scene.

As per PTI's report, upon receiving notification of a cylinder blast at Rameshwaram Cafe, emergency services promptly dispatched a fire engine to the location. While initial assessments suggest the explosion was caused by a cylinder blast, investigations are ongoing to confirm the exact cause.

Described as a minor blast, those injured in the incident have been promptly transferred to medical facilities for treatment. The incident, which transpired between 1:30 and 2:00 pm, is currently under thorough investigation from all possible angles, stated a police official, as per the report.

Police have sealed off the area, and relief and rescue operations are ongoing. Visuals of the explosion were circulated on social media, showing large crowd assembled in the neighborhood. A video also indicated that a fire engine had arrived at the scene.

"We received a call that a cylinder blast occurred in the Rameshawaram cafe. We reached the spot and we are analysing the situation," stated Fire station officials, as per PTI.

A team of Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad also arrived at the spot.

The explosion is reported to have damaged the famed eatery's premises. Officials from the police and fire departments allegedly hurried to the scene to extinguish the fire and avoid more damage.

The café is one of the most renowned eateries in Bengaluru.
