Will take all steps to prevent students' suicides: AP CM Naidu

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Oct 15 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, while attending 'Pratibha Puraskarams' in Vijayawada on Sunday, said his government will take all preventive measures to control student's suicides.

"The government will take all steps to prevent student suicides," said Naidu.

The award function was organised at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada, on the birth anniversary of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

He also expressed concern on the pressure that is being built up on children regarding education.

He said, "A pleasant, pressure-free and conducive atmosphere should be created so that it encourages student to study".

In the event, the Chief Minister also focused on the issues of strengthening government schools and hospitals in the state and said, "Measures are being taken to strengthen government schools, hospitals and to make education and medical expenses cheaper."

As many as 3,991 school children and another 2500 students of intermediate, polytechnic and other higher education were given 'Pratibha Puraskarams'.

Naidu further said 15 percent funds in the budget are allocated to education sector. He added that basic infrastructure in schools will be developed with an investment of Rs. 5000 crores. (ANI)
