J-K: Police directs blocking of social media sites until further notice

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 6 (ANI): In view of the apprehension of misuse of Internet services by anti-national elements, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has directed the nodal officers of various telecom organisations to block all social media sites on lease line and if it's not possible, shutdown the services in the Valley.

The directive will remain in effect from 10 p.m. on July 6 till further notice.

Meanwhile, restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC will remain in force under jurisdiction of the police stations of Nowhatta, MR Gunj, Rainawari, Khanyar and Safakadal on July 7.

According to District Magistrate Srinagar, restrictions under Section 144 will remain in force as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident. (ANI)
