Hema Malini blames 'high population' for Kamala Mills fire

New Delhi [India], Dec 29 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Hema Malini on Friday blamed the 'high population' of the Mumbai behind the fire in a restaurant on the Kamala Mills premises.

Talking to ANI outside parliament, Hema said that certain restrictions should be imposed on the burgeoning population of the city to prevent such mishap in future.

"It is not that the police is not doing anything. The population is so much, the city is spreading like anything. Some restrictions should be done on the population. Each city should have a certain population or limit, after that they should not be allowed. Then let them go to another city," she said.

Earlier in the day, five Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials were suspended in the wake of a massive fire at Mumbai's Kamala Mills, which claimed 14 lives.

Several people were injured in the fire that broke out in the rooftop restaurant in the Kamala Mills compound.

According to reports, the blaze was reported at about 12.30 am from the Mojo's Bistro restaurant and it quickly spread to the neighbouring restaurant.

The Mumbai Police booked the owner of the pub for negligence, besides other charges have also been levelled against him for the fire, which is suspected to be triggered by an electrical short-circuit. (ANI)
