Ghazipur landfill fire: EDMC to soon set up waste-to-energy plant
New Delhi [India], October 15 (ANI): Mayor of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) Neema Bhagat on Sunday said that the department will soon set up a waste-to-energy plant to issue all the problems taking place from past few days at Ghazipur landfill site.
"We will set up waste-to-energy plant soon. There would not be any problem in future. I feel very sorry that people are suffering a lot from this and for the inconvenience. Our main focus is to find solution to solve the problem. I want to appeal to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to sanction amount of Rs. 9,145 crore to build compose plants," she told ANI.
A massive fire broke out yesterday evening at east Delhi's Ghazipur landfill site.
Five fire tenders were used to douse the flames, while no one was injured.
Earlier on September 1, a garbage mound at the Ghazipur landfill collapsed, killing two people and sweeping away many vehicles from the adjacent road. (ANI)
