BJP behind Narayan Rane's resignation: Congress
New Delhi [India], Sept 21 (ANI): Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala, on Thursday hinted that the resignation of Narayan Rane from Congress Party was connected with Bharatiya Janata Party's public accusation against him of having connections with the most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.
"It is intriguing how one day BJP levels allegations against Maharashtra leader Narayan Rane, and the next day he resigns," Surjewala told media.
Surjewala said that a member of BJP's Central working committee had made a public accusation against Rane having connection with Dawood Ibrahim.
The congress spokesperson also said that BJP national President Amit Shah and Home Minister Rajnath Singh should place in public domain whatever evidence they have about any leader having connection with Dawood Ibrahim.
"We believe that any leader who is having connection with Dawood should be exposed and evidence must be released in public domain but nobody should be maligned in absence of any evidence based on innuendos and insinuations. What evidence does the BJP have vis-a-vis Narayan Rane?" Surjewala added.
Earlier in the day, Senior Congress leader from Maharashtra Narayan Rane resigned from the party citing that the party was not fulfilling the promise of making him the chief minister. (ANI)
