Bank Note Press official held for stealing, Rs 90 lakh recovered
Dewas (Madhya Pradesh) [India], Jan 19 (ANI): An official of a Dewas-based Bank Note Press (BNP) was today caught pilfering newly-printed currency notes.
Currency notes worth more than Rs 90 lakh, which he reportedly stole over a period of time, were recovered from his office and residence.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at the corridor of Note Verification Section (NVF) of the BNP noticed Deputy Control Officer of NVF Manohar Verma, hiding some item discreetly in one of the empty wooden boxes lying in the corridor. On suspicion, they kept him under observation and informed the matter to the officers of CISF Unit.
The CISF officers rushed to the spot to enquire the matter.
The said official of the BNP was physically searched, during search and two bundles of currency notes in the denomination of Rs 200 were recovered concealed inside his shoes.
Thereafter, a thorough search at his office was also carried out by the CISF in presence of senior officers of BNP.
During the search, notes worth Rs 26,09,300 were recovered from the table drawers.
Later, Police carried out a search at his residence and notes worth Rs 64.50 lakh were also recovered.
A case has been registered by the police against him and an investigation is underway. (ANI)
