Andhra CM directs officials to complete 18 lakh houses by March 2019

Amravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Jan 19 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday directed the officials to complete building around 18 lakh houses under the housing scheme by March 2019.

While interacting with the district collectors on the second day of a conference, the chief minister said, "By March 2019, 18 lakh houses must be completed at any cost; the government has spent Rs 15, 000 crores for it."

The Chief Minister also asked the officials to issue new ration cards to 1.20 lakhs people by March.

He also asked them to ensure that the government scheme reaches the real beneficiaries in the state.

As per the official information, around two lakh houses were allotted in 2016-17 under NTR Rural Housing.

Out of the houses allotted in 2017-18, 1.88 lakh houses have been accorded administrative sanctions and only 29,334 houses have been completed. Under NTR Rural Housing (Gramin), 72,885 houses have been allotted and 18,219 have been completed.

Under all the schemes in NTR Housing, 2.5 lakh houses will be completed by the end of January and 5 lakh houses will be completed by the end of 2017-18. (ANI)
