New Delhi: India is all set to host the much-awaited G20 Summit as representatives of the world’s largest economies have arrived in New Delhi to attend the two-day global conclave. The mega meet kicks off Saturday, with leaders from the member nations, invited countries and international organisations holding deliberations on the key economic, geopolitical and other issues being faced by the world.
The two-day conclave will be held at the newly-built international convention and exhibition centre, Bharat Mandapam, in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan.
As the world leaders arrived for the G20 summit, host India on Friday said the 'Delhi Declaration' will reflect the voice of Global South. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) and expressed confidence that the meet will chart a new path in the human-centric and inclusive development.
The global leaders will arrive at the summit venue and pose for welcome photographs with Prime Minister Narendra Modi around 9.30 to 10.30 am before the commencement of the first session of talks.
The first session of the conclave ‘One Earth’ will be held from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm, followed by bilateral meetings from 1.30 pm to 3 pm.
The second session ‘One Family’ will be held from 3 pm to 4.45 pm, followed by another round of bilateral meets between 4.45 pm and 5.30 pm.
The first day of the G20 Summit will conclude with a customary dinner from 7 pm to 9.15 pm hosted by President Droupadi Murmu.
According to news agency ANI, PM Modi is likely to hold bilateral talks with the Heads of States of the UK, Japan, Germany and Italy on Saturday.
On Sunday, the global leaders will lay wreaths and attend a live performance at Mahatma Gandhi's tomb in New Delhi around 9 am. They will then attend a tree-planting ceremony at the summit venue at 10.15 am.
On the second day of the summit, PM Modi will hold a working lunch meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and a pull-aside meeting with Canada as well as bilateral talks with Comoros, Turkiye, UAE, South Korea, EU/EC, Brazil and Nigeria, ANI reported.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant will address a closing press conference around 2 pm, followed by another presser by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at 3 pm on Sunday.
