A fire broke out in Mumbai's Bandra area on Friday resulting from a gas leakage. Prompt response from the Mumbai Fire Brigade saw the deployment of five fire tenders to the scene, successfully bringing the blaze under control. Two people have reportedly sustained injuries during the incident and have been admitted to a nearby hospital, news agency ANI reported citing Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
As per media reports, the incident occurred around 4.55 PM but was reported by Mumbai Fire Brigade around 6.33 PM.
"Fire in chawl due to gas leakage. Two injured people were sent to a private hospital. Their condition details are awaited," the BMC official was quoted as saying by Mid Day. The fire was extinguished at 5.37 PM, the report said.
According to the doctor of Gurunanak Hospital, both the injured people were sent to Kasturba Hospital for further treatment, it said.
Earlier in the day, the South Korean Embassy saidthat the seven people rescued by fire fighters from a Gurugram flat belonged to the Korean Association. A Gurugram fire officer previously stated that the people rescued from the Sector 28 flat on Thursday afternoon were from the embassy.
Two fire engines were dispatched, and the fire, which was possibly caused by a short circuit, was brought under control in about an hour, according to news agency PTI. The seven people, including five women, were rescued using a platform vehicle. According to the report, one of them suffered a minor hand injury.
The Korean Cultural Centre India, the press and culture department of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, clarified in a statement on Friday that the people caught in the fire were not from the embassy.
