The fourth edition of Ideas of India 2025 finally comes to an end with vibrant sessions ranging from politics to sports and entertainment to science. A host of prolific speakers including Shashi Tharoor, Amir Khan, Professor Venki Ramakrishnan, and sporting legends Prakash Padukone, Vishwanathan Anand, Geet Sethi, and Leander Paes graced the occasion.
Piyush Goyal, Khan Sir, Sachin Pilot, Krishna Shroff, and Cyrus Broacha were among other speakers who put forward their views on the Ideas of India stage.

Venki Ramakrishnan says a better lifestyle leads to increased longevity. "Historically, people have improved economics and education before birthrates fell... If the economy of the states improves, they will inevitably follow the demographic trend. A lot of it also has to do with women empowerment. When women get educated and economically independent, they are less reluctant to be vessels for popping out children."
He agrees that "Rich people live longer". He says: "It's absolutely true... Even in Britain the richest 10% live about 10 years more than the poorest 10%. In the US, it is about 15 years. It's actually worse. If you look at healthy years, the difference is almost double. So instead of 10 years, it is 20 years is the difference in healthy lives and in the US it might be close to 30 years.
Eating moderately may help you live longer, says Nobel Laureate Venki Ramakrishnan. He says starving oneself or overeating may have the opposite consequences.

Aamir Khan says for several years he has been following the age-old practice of taking only performers' fees. "I do not charge a fee for my films. I only take a share of the profits. So, I get paid only if people like my film," he says. He adds that is why he did not earn anything from 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and 'Thugs of Hindostan', which bombed at the Box Office.
Bollywood's 'Mr Perfectionist' Aamir Khan says he is not interested in perfection. "I believe in magic. I feel there is no such thing as 'perfect'... It's a continuous and evolving process... I only pay attention to details. God lives in details."

Actor Aamir Khan says he treats his work like play and he is lucky in that way as not many get to enjoy their passion as a profession.
Speaking on the assembly poll losses after decent results in the Lok Sabha elections, Shashi Tharoor said that the Indian voter has become sophisticated enough to choose separately for the nation and state. He also said that the media is partly to blame for its portrayal of the Congress and the BJP.

Economic activist Professor Ashwani Mahajan says: "If Tesla comes to India, it won't hurt India. We make the cheapest automobiles and nothing can change that. Reducing tariffs from 110% to 70% cannot disrupt Indian EV sales."
Sandeep Chaudhary asks if 'Revdi' or freebies indicate fiscal indiscipline or mismanagement, as Dr Ashima Goyal breaks it down.
Professor Ashwani Mahajan sheds light on India's growth rate and the role of organised and unorganised sectors in the economy, in a conversation with Sandeep Chaudhary.
"There are huge queues for government jobs because they are permanent and they [candidates] need to do no work; and still get paid and get all kinds of perks. Speaking on the consumer behaviour in India, Sreeleathers director Rochita Dey said brand positioning for different people is important in India. "If one can create a brand which has a premium branding without the luxury price tag, we can reach a lot diverse consumers than being a mass brand," she said.
Founder of robotics company Miko, Sneh Vaswani, shared how he was ridiculed for his innovative AI-power robotics proposition. "I pitched to 500 investors and was rejected. People would tell me 'Sell your robot first then come for funding'," he says. He also said that he finally received funding from people with entrepreneurial backgrounds.
Ishpreet Singh Gandhi, Founder, Stride Ventures & StrideOne, highlights the hard work and challenges behind achieving Unicorn status.
"Conditions of minorities in Bangladesh and Pakistan cannot be compared to that in India. From 1947 till now, the Hindu population in Bangladesh has come down from 32% to 8%. In India, Muslims have increased from 8% to 16%," says Arun Kumar, Sah Sarkaryawah.

The BJP coming to power makes no difference to the RSS, says Arun Kumar. "The work of the Sangh is to unite; it is based on friendship... This is the basic work of the Sangh, we stay away from publicity and do not promote ourselves. Today the Sangh is the centre of attraction because of our selflessness in society," he said.
"Those who come to us with vested interests are disappointed," he said.
Arun Kumar, Sah Sarkaryawah, Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh, at Ideas of India 2025 in Mumbai, defines if India is a nation or civilisation. He says 'Bharat' is not limited to its landmass. He says people make a nation. He says Bharat's idea of a nation is completely different from the European concept of a State.
"India is a nation, different from other nations. The nation has had a feeling since the time of Vedas. Nation came first here, the state came later, We have had the idea of a nation for 1,000 years. People make the nation India is a country of diversity," he says
Music producer Mahesh Raghavan shares how he became the first person in the world to fuse Indian music with a special technique on an app.
Orry says he doesn't crave validation in his social media posts since he already has validation from people. "How do you crave something that you already have," he says.
Orry says AI is the last thing that people talk about at high-end parties. He says people "soak in energies".
Speaking on the potential impact of Donald Trump's return to power on global trade and India's industries, the tariff situation, and the scepticism among businessmen, Piyush Goyals said there is no competition between India and the US.
"The things that we can make are not available in the US and vice-versa. We can work together to multiply the force," he said.
"No one should enter any country illegally. We don't want any Indian to illegally enter any country. Those who are opposing the deportation should clarify if they support the illegal entry of Bangladeshis in India," Piyush Goyal said on the deportation of illegal migrants. He further said agents who send Indians through illegal routes should be arrested and punished. He, however, remained silent on the shackling of the deportees.
Piyush Goyal said the Modi government's policies will make India A $30-35 trillion economy in 20 years.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal says the development of India can come only from the multidimensional thinking of people. "Only religious or material thought process cannot help in a Viksit Bharat," Goyal said.

Speaking on the Congress's repeated losses in polls and the apparent popularity of PM Modi, former Rajasthan Deputy CM Sachin Pilot says: "The Idea of India cannot be limited to one party or one leader. The entire nation's idea and choice cannot be reflected in poll wins."
"We have lost in some polls and we are performing our duties as a responsible Opposition. The BJP said it would win 400 seats, but was limited to 240," he said.
Khan sir says youths need to learn real-life skills. "Metro cities do not represent the entire India. Schools and colleges can't teach you vocational skills and trade. My 'ustaad' taught me welding. No professor could teach me this. I had to learn welding to earn initially," Khan sir says on the importance of degrees.
Popular teacher and YouTuber 'Khan Sir' said one person can't change the nation. The entire populace has to change. "If people demand their rights, any person can lead. I don't need to join politics for that."
'Pondman' Ramveer Tanwar says: "Aliens are not dumping wastes. We are. So it is we who will have to clean up for a better environment. Another way is to use only those resources that we need and in the minimum possible quantity."
CEO of Paani Foundation Satyajit Bhatkal says people will have to be motivated and provided with the knowledge to deal with scarcity of water. "If we keep hoping for someone else to solve our problems, the issue will never be resolved. All of us are pollutants. The day we stop polluting the environment, everything will be clean. Only government initiatives won't solve the problem," he said.
