ABP Ideas Of India: Label Of 'Mr Perfectionist' Is Inaccurate, Says Aamir Khan
During the session titled "New Beginnings: Reorienting Entertainment", chaired by ABP Network’s Sumit Awasthi, the actor also spoke about his relationship with his children during the pandemic.
New Delhi: Aamir Khan, who is known for his Perfectionist tag and exceptional performances, had a candid exchange of words at a session during the ABP Ideas Of India Summit in Mumbai Saturday.
During the session titled "New Beginnings: Reorienting Entertainment", chaired by ABP Network’s Sumit Awasthi, the actor also spoke about his relationship with his children during the pandemic.
Aamir Khan rejected the label of Mr Perfectionist. He said, "The label of Mr Perfectionist is inaccurate. But still, sometimes label stick with you no matter if you are actually that or not. I am not a Perfectionist. I am someone who is just trying hard and I love my work."
"What I am really looking for is magic. As a creative person, I am always looking for a magical moment no matter if it is perfect or not. Usually, magical moments are not perfect. So I am a person who believes in getting that moment and not having it perfect," he adds.

"In the last two years of the pandemic, a lot of us have lost someone, everyone has their own personal stories," Awasthi said at the beginning of the conversation, adding: "How were these two years for you. Since you were spending a lot of time at home, we would want to know what you did during this period."
The actor replied that the last two years have been difficult for all of us. "However, during this period I got an ample amount of time to sit by myself and think. I went through a lot of introspection in these two years. In the whole process, one thing that hit me sharply was that from the age of 18 till now I was attracted towards this world outside so much that I overlooked my responsibilities towards my family," he said, adding that "because of my work I was not able to give them the time. Now, when I look back, I wasn't there for my daughter who is 23 years old right now. I didn't know what her dreams and hopes were."
Talking more about his children he said, it is a very important task for a parent how they bring up their child. He further added that as a parent our primary responsibility towards our children is to make them feel secure and give them their due trust, faith and dignity.
The highlight of the event was when Aamir Khan revealed that he had quit the film industry for a while. When asked why, he replied, "I had informed my family that I won't be doing any films from now onwards. Neither I'll act nor I will produce any films. Now, I just want to spend my time with you all. My family was shocked."

Talking further about his decision, the actor said that at that time he thought it was better not to break the news to the world because if he had, then people might misinterpret it as a marketing scheme.
"After three months, my kids made me understand that my decision was an extreme thing to do. They told me, I need to find a balance in my life, and spend time with them as well as do my films," he said.
