What Does The Red Line On Some Medicines Indicate? Know What Centre Says

Centre stated that pharmacists can only supply these medicines to the customers if a legitimate medical prescription is presented.

You may have spotted a red stripe on the packages of numerous medications. However, few people are aware that this line represents something extremely essential about the drug, pills, and capsules. As a result, understanding its implications is critical. We've seen folks take medications without consulting a doctor and then suffer the consequences. Consuming these medications without consulting a doctor may endanger one's life.

To address this issue, the Union Health Ministry on Sunday in a post on X (previously known as Twitter) issued an advisory highlighting the significance of the paying attention to a specific detail on the back label of medicines.

Centre stated that pharmacists can only supply these medicines to the customers if a legitimate medical prescription is presented.

Taking to X, the Union Health Ministry stated: "You can prevent antibiotic resistance! A RED LINE on the strip of medicines implies that the medicine should not be consumed without a doctor's prescription."

Therefore, its advised to check for the red line along with expiry date on the back side of the medicines.
