Karnataka Govt Releases Revised Covid Testing And Quarantine Guidelines | Check Details

Karnataka COVID-19 Guidelines: The symptomatic patients will be tested by Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), according to the latest Karnataka COVID guidelines.

New Delhi: The Karnataka government on Wednesday issued new guidelines for testing and home isolation of Covid-19 patients as the state logged 41,457 new infections.

"Patients in home isolation shall be released after at least seven days have passed from testing positive and no fever has been recorded for three preceding and successive days," the guidelines said.

The government also said there was no need for re-testing after the home isolation period is over.

According to the new rules, all symptomatic patients will be made to undergo a rapid antigen test (RAT). If the test yields a negative result, an RT-PCR test will be done, in accordance with ICMR guidelines.

The government also said that if healthcare personnel exhibit any signs or symptoms suggestive of Covid-19, they would be tested for the infection.

Healthcare personnel who are asymptomatic or have moderate symptoms must quarantine themselves for five days at home or in a hotel.

"If asymptomatic for during the preceding three days with oxygen saturation greater than 94% at room air, they will be released from isolation with an advisory to strictly wear a mask or PPE when people are around for the next five days," reads the official guidelines.

Moreover, all primary contacts of Covid-19 patients (at home or workplace) will be tested for the infection even if they are asymptomatic and irrespective of their age and comorbidities.

The guidelines require primary contacts of persons who have tested positive for Covid-19 to be quarantined at home for seven days. There is no need for re-testing prior to release.

Karnataka on Tuesday logged 41,457 new Covid cases and 20 deaths, while the positivity rate stood at 22.30 per cent, as per the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
