Eye Care Tips: Be Careful Before It's Too Late, These Indicators Point Towards Blurred Vision

Age-related macular degeneration is the most prominent cause of blindness among people over the age of fifty, which makes the prevention and early detection of the disease necessary.

New Delhi: Is the text on the laptop screen not clearly visible? Is it annoying for you to fix your font size on your laptop or do you blink often? If so, then you should see an opthalmologist at the earliest.

Pain in the eye, problems concentrating on the screen, and watery eyes are all signs of blurred sight. These are all common complaints of eyes that are age-related.

Blurred vision can be caused by a problem in any part of the eye such as the cornea, retina, or optic nerve. Eyes are a precious gift from nature and an important organ of our body. Since they are delicate, it becomes necessary to give them complete care.

Ignoring even a minor problem can have serious implications. Not treating the problem in time can affect vision or can cause a permanent loss of vision.

There is a risk of problems relating to the retina or eye with age. One of the most common eye problems in the elderly is age-related macular degeneration (AMD). AMD directly affects the macula.

The macula is a part of the retina behind the eye. These can affect the central vision of the human eye. Age-related macular degeneration is the most prominent reason for blindness among people over the age of fifty, which makes the prevention and early detection of the disease necessary.

Increasing age is considered to be its biggest risk factor. Also, genetic and environmental factors along with smoking increase the risk.

Ophthalmologist Vishali Gupta says the number of cases of retinal disease is increasing in India. Retinal disease AMD cannot be prevented as it occurs with aging. Many AMD patients may develop abnormal new blood vessels that require regular eye injections, regular examinations, and treatment for the eyes.

During the Corona period, there was a barrier to retinal healthcare because many patients were unable to get injections or timely laser treatment.

Because of this, patients reached out to us in advanced stages that required complex surgery. The pandemic screening may lead to a delay in regular retinal screening.

As the problem increases, patients are approaching experts in the advanced stage of the disease. Work from Home's routine has boosted a sedentary lifestyle, worsened diet, and increased stress levels, which further contribute to health issues. Therefore, an effective way of investigating would be identifying AMD in an early stage.
