Delhi Registers 1,076 New Covid Cases In Past 24 Hours, Positivity Rate Jumps To 6.42%

New Delhi: Delhi recorded 1,076 COVID-19 cases on Monday, a 27 per cent decrease from the previous day, however, the positivity rate has jumped to 6.42 per cent, according to statistics given by the municipal health department, news agency PTI reported.

There were no new deaths reported due to the disease.

With the addition of these additional cases, the national capital's overall COVID-19 tally has risen to 18,85,636, with a death toll of 26,175.

On Sunday, Delhi reported 1,485 cases and no deaths, with a positive rate of 4.89 per cent. On Saturday, it had reported 1,520 cases and one death from the illness, with a positive rate of 5.10%. 

On Friday, there were 1,607 COVID-19 cases and two fatalities, with a positivity rate of 5.28 per cent. On Thursday, the national capital had 1,490 cases and two fatalities, with a positivity rate of 4.62 per cent.

According to the most recent health bulletin, 16,753 COVID-19 tests were performed in the city on Sunday.

According to the report, there are 5,744 active cases in the city, and the number of containment zones has increased to 1,103.

However, the hospitalisation rate has been minimal thus far, accounting for less than 3% of the total active cases, according to the report.

Currently, 178 COVID-19 patients are being treated in Delhi hospitals, while 4,490 are recovering at home, according to the report.

According to the data, just 191 (1.99 per cent) of the 9,577 beds available for COVID-19 patients in various institutions are filled.

Last week, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain stated that COVID-19 cases have grown in the city, but the situation is not alarming because individuals are not suffering severe sicknesses and the hospitalisation rate is low.

He ascribed the decreased prevalence of hospitalisation to vaccines and naturally acquired immunity.
