New Delhi: India's billion-plus population is under a three-week lockdown to combat the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic. This step taken by the government is a high priority in view to knock down the advancement of COVID-19. But this lockdown may have a damaging impact on health and well-being. We all know that being sluggish is detrimental for the physical as well as mental health, so staying active during this difficult time is important.  A person who is physically active will be able to maintain stable blood pressure and cholesterol level which reduces the risk of heart disease and diabetes. To make your immune system work effectively, physical activity is mandatory as it helps in flushing out the bacteria from the lungs and airways which subsequently increases white blood cell circulation and raises body temperature, all of which help the body fight infection. Here are some suggestions which can be followed during this lockdown to keep ourselves fit and healthy:

  • Just walking briskly around the house can be a great help in maintaining good health.
  • Squats or sit-to-stands from a sturdy chair, push-ups against a wall or the kitchen counter, and lunges or single-leg step-ups on stairs are all great for those new to these kinds of exercises.
  • Cardiovascular exercises can be easily performed within a space of not more than 20 feet. Some of the exercises like pot jogging, jumps, step-ups, and stair climbing are great ways to lose fat. One can do a normal push-up followed by a jump with both hands raised, which amounts to one repetition, this burpee combines exceptional cardiovascular as well as muscle fitness.
