Sony is expected to unveil its free March game lineup later today.

In an early revelation, it has been disclosed that the upcoming PlayStation Plus lineup for March 2024 will feature the inclusion of Sifu as one of its complimentary games. Although the official unveiling is scheduled for Wednesday, February 28, subscribers can anticipate the new additions to the gaming roster to be available on Tuesday, March 5, with a grace period until April 2 for acquisition.

While the anticipation builds for the formal announcement on February 28, leaks have become a customary prelude. Among the plethora of self-proclaimed insiders, billbil-kun stands out for their track record of accurate disclosures regarding PlayStation Plus offerings. Though discretion is advised when considering leaks, billbil-kun's reliability lends credence to the disclosure.

As per billbil-kun's latest reveal, Sifu, a widely acclaimed martial arts game, will take the spotlight in the March 2024 PlayStation Plus lineup. Accompanying titles remain undisclosed until the official declaration on February 28.

Launched a couple of years ago, Sifu brings a unique combination of intense combat and roguelike challenges. Sifu garnered several award nominations, including categories like Best Action Game, Best Independent Game, and Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards 2022.

While enthusiasts await the full lineup confirmation, they still have time to secure the current PlayStation Plus offerings for February 2024, featuring Foamstars, Rollerdrome, and Steelrising. Subscribers have until Monday, March 4, to avail themselves of these titles.

Sony To Lay Off PlayStation Employees

Meanwhile, in a move aimed at restructuring its PlayStation video-game division, Sony Group has announced the termination of 900 positions globally, marking about 8 per cent of its workforce. Alongside this decision, the company revealed the closure of a division located in London, according to reports from Bloomberg.

The news came as Jim Ryan, the departing President and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Interactive Entertainment, addressed the staff on Tuesday, highlighting the imperative need for strategic changes to drive business growth and corporate advancement. Ryan emphasised in his communication the culmination of numerous leadership discussions over several months, indicating the necessity for these changes to sustain business expansion and company evolution.

Among the significant impacts of the layoffs are esteemed game developers such as Insomniac, known for its celebrated Spider-Man series, Naughty Dog, recognised for The Last of Us, and Guerrilla Games, the creative force behind Horizon. Sources familiar with the situation suggested that Guerrilla Games would see a reduction in its workforce by about 10 per cent, affecting approximately 40 employees. Additionally, Sony confirmed the cessation of operations at PlayStation London, known for its SingStar series and virtual reality games.

The restructuring within Sony's PlayStation division underscores the evolving landscape of the gaming industry and the measures undertaken by major players to adapt and thrive in the market.
