Indus Goes 'Nuclear', Introduces Pokhran As New Playable Hero: All You Need To Know
As per Indus lore, Pokhran is described as a nuclear automaton created by Homi J Bhabha.
Indus, the much-hyped made-in-India battle royale developed by Pune-based SuperGaming, unveiled its latest addition to the game — a new playable character named Pokhran, to mark Diwali festivities. This falls in line with the yet-to-be-released game's signature strategy of announcing major updates around the titles on Indian holidays. The closed beta release date is still pending, expected to be sometime this festive season, and the character is set to be a significant feature in the game.
According to the in-game narrative, Pokhran is described as a nuclear automaton created by Homi J Bhabha, the historical figure recognised for his pivotal role in India's pursuit of nuclear independence. Bhabha, often referred to as the 'Father of the Indian Nuclear Programme,' played a crucial role in the country's nuclear research, leading to advancements in both energy production and the historic nuclear detonation in 1974.
SuperGaming released an unveiling video of the new character on its social media platforms. By the looks of it, Pokhran could very well turn out to be a tank character to help players power through waves of enemies.

During the India Game Developer Conference (IGDC), Indus received the Most Popular Game Award. In a noteworthy announcement, SuperGaming revealed that Indus is set to make its debut in the widely popular gaming platform, Fortnite. This crossover initiative, completed in just 27 days by a two-person team at SuperGaming, utilised Epic Games' Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN).
Christelle D'cruz, co-founder at SuperGaming, emphasised the rapid development process, stating, "We learned, built, and created Indus with UEFN in about 27 days with no prior Unreal experience. This will allow us to test Indus' gameplay with external audiences faster and give more gamers a chance to experience Indo-Futurism through their game of choice — Fortnite."
