When Lalit Modi Helped In Getting Sushmita Sen’s Twitter Account Verified

After a Twitter conversation between the two in 2013, an eleven-year-old tweet by Sushmita Sen has resurfaced in which she thanked Lalit Modi for helping her get ‘blue tick mark’ on Twitter.

New Delhi: Former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi revealed on Thursday that he is dating Sushmita Sen by posting a series of pictures with her on social media. The internet went crazy after the announcement as nobody had any idea about the relationship and soon old Twitter interactions and tweets of the couple started resurfacing. Well, thanks to the Internet sleuths!  

After a Twitter conversation between the two in 2013, an eleven-year-old tweet by Sushmita Sen has resurfaced in which she thanked Lalit Modi for helping her get ‘blue tick mark’ on Twitter.  

“Yippppeeee!!! Finally my twitter account is verified!! Thank you Lalit Modi for all your help!” Sushmita tweeted in 2011.  

Earlier, an old Twitter interaction between the two also went viral.  

In the old tweet from 2013, Lalit Modi is asking Sushmita to reply to his message. Lalit Modi shared a tweet in which he wrote, “Okay I commit “@thesushmitasen: @LalitKModi you are too kind. However, promises are meant to be broken, commitments are honoured. Cheers love. Here is to 47.”    

Sushmita replied, “Gotcha 47,” to which Lalit replied, “Reply my SMS.”  

People started resharing this Twitter interaction with their comments. A user wrote, “Umeed kabhi nahi chodni chahiye (One should never lose hope).” Another one said, “9 saal baad reply kiya,.”    

Meanwhile, Sushmita's father Shubeer Sen and brother Rajeev Sen both said they did not know about the couple’s relationship.   

Rajeev Sen said that he was "pleasantly surprised" about the new development in his sister's life, and he had no idea about it, earlier.   

"I am pleasantly surprised. I will speak to my sister before I say anything. I wasn't aware of it at all. My sister is yet to confirm this from her end, so I can't comment, as of now," Rajeev told The Times of India.   

Sushmita’s father Shubeer shared the same sentiment and told the media, "I do not have any knowledge or information about this development. I had a telephonic conversation with my daughter on Friday morning only. But she did not tell me anything on this count. I was informed after the tweet from Lalit Modi only by media persons. Since I have absolutely no information on this development, I am unable to offer any comment."   

Sushmita Sen broke up with Rohman Shawl in December 2021 after three years of relationship.
