Karishma Tanna Reveals Her Dad Didn't See Her Face For A Month After She Was Born, Says 'He Wanted A Son'
Karishma Tanna has recently discussed her upbringing in an interview with Siddharth Kannan.
New Delhi: Karishma Tanna's new web series, ‘Scoop’, is almost ready to premiere. During one of the promotional interviews, Karishma discussed her father's reaction to her birth. The actress also said that her dad was not happy about the birth of a daughter. Karishma said that hearing this from her mother as a child had left her devastated. The actress also described herself as coming from a middle-class Gujarati family and said that although her aunts and grandparents did well in business, her father had a hard time making ends meet.
Karishma has recently discussed her upbringing in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. She told, "My mother had told me when I was old enough that actually when I was born, my dad wasn’t happy. Because he wanted a son and there was family pressure, like typical Gujarati families."

The actress added, "They thought a son can carry forward their lineage, earn more and they are superior. My mom had two daughters. My granddad and grandmom used to give us second hand treatment. It made me strong, I will show them what a boy does can also be done by a girl."
Meanwhile, Karishma will portray journalist Jagruti Pathak in Hansal Mehta's ‘Scoop’. According to the web series' official synopsis, "The shocking murder of a journalist thrusts a crime reporter into the nexus of police, media and the Mumbai underworld as she fights for justice."
On June 2nd, 2023, ‘Scoop’ will debut on Netflix.
On the personal front, Karishma Tanna got married her long-term lover, real estate entrepreneur Varun Bangera on February 5, 2022.
