New Delhi: The trailer of 'Rana Naidu', the Indian adaptation of Ray Donovan, dropped on Wednesday. The series marks the coming together of two of Telugu cinema's megastars, the nephew-uncle duo Rana Daggubati, who plays the titular character and Venkatesh Daggubati, who essays Venky Naidu in the series. They play father and son in the series who are up against each other.
It follows the life of Rana Naidu (Rana), the go-to guy for everyone in Bollywood when they have a problem, and his tense equation with his estranged father Naga (Venkatesh). Rana Naidu does the dirty work for the top power players, making the problems of the city's celebrities, superstar athletes, and business moguls disappear.
Talking about working with his uncle Venkatesh in the web series, Rana Daggubati said he was also looking forward to doing something unusual with his uncle.
“From the time I made it in my career, I knew I would do this at some point in my life. And I just wanted it to not be cliche but cool and something where we can consistently revisit characters over and over again. I couldn't have asked for anything better than 'Rana Naidu',” he was quoted as saying by PTI.
Venkatesh Daggubati also spoke about working with his nephew. "It was fantastic and really wonderful that I got to work with my nephew Rana, and he has done a wonderful job... It is not the usual kind of family drama. I am not soft with him and we are not singing songs. This is what people will expect from us to do when we work together. But this is different and there are some hard hitting dialogues. It was really nice and I am really glad that we got to do it," Venkatesh, 62, told reporters at the show's trailer launch event in Mumbai.
The series also stars Surveen Chawla, Sushant Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Suchitra Pillai, Gaurav Chopra, Ashish Vidyarthi and Rajesh Jais in pivotal roles, and has been directed by the duo Karan Anshuman and Suparn Verma.
