The series is based on the real-life escapades of Uttar Pradesh police officer Avinash Mishra.

New Delhi: The trailer of Randeep Hooda starrer upcoming Jio Cinema series, 'Inspector Avinash', has dropped. The actor is ready to take on the role of supercop Avinash Mishra, who refuses to wait for the legal system to come to a ruling.

The series is based on the real-life escapades of Uttar Pradesh police officer Avinash Mishra, who took on the weapons mafia, and is set in the late 1990s. The show clearly depicts the difficult and intense moments of how Mishra fought gangsters and the sacrifices and risks involved in fighting for justice in a broken system.

When the teaser was released, Randeep Hooda expressed his delight and said, “As an actor, I am always drawn towards real-life stories of unsung heroes. It is important to tell stories rooted in India, stories that depict the struggles and triumphs of our people. Mishra’s story is nothing short of a real-life modern day Robinhood, fighting against crime and standing up for what’s right and I am truly honoured to be a part out this heroic story. While I love playing cop roles, this role was different. I spent a lot of time with Avinash ji to get the nuances right.”

Inspector Avinash's ensemble cast includes Adhyayan Suman, Freddy Daruwala, Shalin Bhanot, Amit Sial, Abhimanyu Singh, Rahul Mittra, and Urvashi Rautela. Neerraj Pathak has written and helmed the web series.

With the Netflix drama 'CAT', Randeep made his OTT debut a year ago. In 2021, Salman Khan's Radhe was his last major feature film. 'Tera Kya Hoga Lovely', starring Ileana D'Cruz, and 'Swatantra Veer Savarkar' are two more of his upcoming films.

The series Inspector Avinash will be streamed for free on JioCinema from May 18, 2023.
