New Delhi: Vaibhavi Upadhyaya, who portrayed Jasmine in the classic show 'Sarabhai Vs. Sarabhai', passed away in a car accident on Tuesday. The actor's death was reported on Wednesday morning which sent the entire television industry in a state of shock. The fatal accident of the 33-year-old actress took place in Himachal Pradesh. On Wednesday, Vaibhavi last rites were held in Mumbai. At the funeral, actors Gautam Rode and JD Majethia, producer of Sarabhai Vs. Sarabhai, and writers Aatish Kapadia paid their respects to Vaibhavi and offered their condolences to her family. 


A paparazzo account shared a video of the actor's last rites on Instagram, where several people had arrived to pay their condolences. A video showed an emotional Gautam Rode wiping away his tears alongside others who were both shocked and devastated by Vaibhavi's untimely demise. For the final rites on Wednesday, Vaibhavi's relatives brought her mortal remains to Mumbai.


Producer JD Majethia, who worked with Upadhayay in the show 'Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai Take 2', broke the sad news. He said that the accident happened in North India in a tweet. "Life is so unpredictable. A very fine actress, dear friend Vaibhavi Upadhyay popularly known as 'Jasmine' of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai passed away. She met with an accident in the north. Family will bring her to Mumbai tomorrow morning around 11 am for last rites. RIP Vaibhavi (sic)," reads JD Majethia's post.






Upadhyay appeared in several more projects besides the television series 'Sarabhai Vs. Sarabhai', including the films 'Chhapaak', 'Kya Qasoor Hai Amla Ka', and 'Please Find Attached'.
