Mumbai: Nisha Rawal, who accused her husband Karan Mehra of domestic violence, addressed a press conference on Tuesday (June 1) evening. The actress, while talking to the reporters, alleged that the ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ actor is having an extra-marital affair. She claimed that Mehra accepted his affair during their conversation. 

The ‘Main Lakshmi Tere Angan Ki’ actress, who sported a bandage on her head, broke down into tears during the press conference. She said that she tried to work upon her marriage and even went to meet Karan’s parents. 

“I didn’t even tell my mother about my marital issues. I took a flight and went to meet Karan’s parents, who advised me to resolve the issues with him. Mummy told me, ‘You have to work on it’. After receiving no support, I returned to Mumbai.” she said.  

Nisha added, “I initiated efforts to ‘fix our marriage’ but he didn’t show no remorse. I created a Whatsapp group called the ‘Love Project’. Karan’s behaviour over the years has remained the same. This is not new. I tried to keep his ‘Naitik’ image intact as we are actors and we have a son. I am a 21st century woman, who talks about several issues including women rights.”  

Karan and Nisha got married in November 2012 after dating each other for several years. They are parents to four-year-old Kavish Mehra. The couple participated in dance reality show ‘Nach Baliye 5’. 

Nisha had filed a complaint against Karan, accusing him of assaulting her following a fight. The Mumbai Police arrested the ‘Bigg Boss 10’ contestant and booked him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. 

Karan, who spent the night in lockup, was granted bail on Tuesday morning. He refuted Nisha’s allegations and claimed that his wife filed a ‘fake’ case against him. 

Mehra shot to fame after playing the role of Naitik opposite Hina Khan in ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’. After quitting the show, he participated in Salman Khan’s ‘Bigg Boss 10’.
