In a shocking turn of events, Bollywood actress Kajol's sister Tanishaa Mukerji faced an unfortunate incident in US. The former Bigg Boss runner-up alleges that she faced racism in New York on her recent visit to the city. Apparently, she was in the United States for an American charity event, CRY, Tanishaa was partying with her friends at the Jane hotel club when this incident took place. The actress stated that one of the African-American hotel employees made an insensitive and racist remark about her.
While talking to Mid-Day, the actress opened up about the incident and was quoted as saying, "I don't understand what triggered it as I was polite, but he turned rude. One of the employees, an African-American, said that we looked as if we were fresh off the boat and couldn't speak English. That was insulting and blatantly racist. My friends and I were shocked. It's traumatic to experience this kind of racism in the US; I have never faced it earlier." Tanishaa even made a Twitter video that ended briefly after she was apparently not allowed to continue with the stream. Calling it a traumatic experience, Tanishaa complained that no one from the hotel authorities came forward to help her and her friends. She actress further said that she tried to take help from the officials in the hotel but they refused to help. She even tried to record the incident on her phone but was asked to stop it. "I was trying to record the incident on my camera. The video I posted online ends abruptly because the guy stopped me and told me to switch my recorder off. It's unfortunate when you experience something like this in a land that stands for rights and liberty. I am saddened that an African-American behaved like this, considering they have experienced discrimination themselves."
