Swara Bhasker took to Twitter to inform her fans of the joyous news of her marriage to Ahmad, whom she had first met in January 2020 while taking part in a rally against the disputed Citizenship Reform Act (CAA). Ahmad, a student leader, had assembled the young group of students to start the CAA resistance.
After announcing her marriage to Fahad Zirar Ahmad, she praised the Special Marriage Act's provisions. Swara shared a sweet video on her official Instagram account on Thursday that showed how the two met and became friends.
"Three cheers for the #SpecialMarriageAct (despite notice period etc.) At least it exists & gives love a chance… The right to love, the right to choose your life partner, the right to marry, the right to agency these should not be a privilege.@FahadZirarAhmad," she wrote.
Fahad is a political activist who served as the general secretary of Tata Institute of Social Science Students' Union. He is currently serving as the president of Samajwadi Party Yuvjan Sabha of Maharashtra and Mumbai.
