New Delhi: SS Rajamouli's upcoming film with Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu has created quite some buzz among fans. Tentatively titled SSMB 29, more news about the film's cast has kept up fans' anticipation. However, now as per media reports, Prithviraj Sukumaran is being associated with the project.

As per a Pinkvilla report, Prithviraj has been brought on board the action-adventure film. The publication quoted a source close to the development as saying, "It’s a well-written part with an arc of its own. The character has his own backstory justifying the actions, and Prithviraj is also excited for his first-ever collaboration with both SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu.”

Up till now, Aamir Khan's name was being associated as the arch nemesis in the film. In 2023, a TOI report speculated chances of Aamir Khan being in the film. The rumour bega doing the rounds on social media once again this year, after a Siasat Daily report stated that Aamir and Rajamouli even met in Mumbai.
Earlier in 2024, Indonesian actor Chelsea Elizabeth Islan began following Rajamouli on Instagram sparking rumous about a collaboration.
However, no official confirmation from the team of SSMB29 has come about. While official announcements for cast were done for 'RRR', it seems that makers have been quite tight-lipped about this one. A source close to the film was quoted by HT as saying, "We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again—anything that’s talked about the film right now is pure conjecture. The casting has not been finalised yet, it will be in due time. Unless Rajamouli or the producers announce it, it’s all gossip.”
Earlier in May, the team of Rajamouli film also slammed rumours that Viren Swami is the casting director of the film. A press release from the film's team said, "It has come to our notice that the prominent publication has published an article regarding the casting of SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s project. We want to clarify that, contrary to what is stated in the article, Mr Viren Swami is not involved in any part of our film in any way. All official announcements will be made by the production house if and when necessary.”
